Delt Life of Excellence

An email I wrote today nominating Ray for an award to be presented by Delta Tau Delta alumni in the San Francisco Bay area.

Charles,

I received my Rainbow yesterday, and noticed the blurb about the upcoming Delt Day by the Bay in May event, as well as the proposed award to recognize a brother who lived a life of excellence.

You may or may not be aware of this, but we lost a fellow Beta Xi alum in San Francisco recently - Ray O'Neal, Class of '88. Ray exemplified all of the principles of a Good Delt in every way. Although I do not live in the area, I attended his memorial service a few weeks ago. There were literally hundreds of people there, including a contingent of his fraternity brothers that had gathered to honor his memory. He lived life fully, touching many people. He will be missed in a very big way.

You can read more about Ray's life and what people who knew him thought of him at a site we set up to collect memories of him at http://www.rememberingray.com. The site is constantly being updated, and I have several entries to add this weekend.

If you need further testimonies about him and his life, I feel sure I can round them up.

Yours Fraternally,

Dean de Freitas
Beta Xi '89

Any other Delts who want to join me in this effort to have Ray recognized for the way he lived his life, please email me and I will give you the pertinent information.
